Cry me a river. Obviously, you are cherry picking for an excuse to explain McCains's failures as a presidential candidate. Anyone who thinks that SNL will sway an election in proamerica/antiamerica/real/unreal United States of America, really, have not been following the political process.

Response:
Chill out Dude, if you read any of my blog you would know that I am not GOP Bot or a DNC Bot. I primarily analyze the media and its role in the political process. Look at the facts:

(1) Newspapers 4-1 endorse Obama
(2) Obama has 5 times as much money.
(3) The worst economic crisis in almost a hundred years
(4) A current GOP president with the lowest approval rating in history.

Answer me this, why was it ever a close election ? Excuses for McCain's coming loss ? Hardly, the fact that McCain was even close at all is what is amazing... Explain to me why it isn't a landslide election for Obama ? Despite his base of support he has hardly won the endorsement he should have in this political climate and against an old GOP candidate like McCain who isn't even supported by most of his party before Palin...

Obama needed SNL which more people watched than the debates to bring this safely home. He may have won without SNL but it would not have been by a safe margin...

You Americans are crazy. If Sarah Palin tried for election in Asia, She would've been laughed off in one week and McCain's ratings would've plummeted for such a dumb choice.

Response:
Are Asian women even allowed to vote yet? Are Asian women given ANY positions of respect or legitimate power in Asian culture or are women still looked upon with contempt ? Let me guess you are a little Chinese emperor right ? Part of that new generation of young rich educated chinese ? Well here is another lesson for you as you attempt to understand Western democracy. The most successful western democratic leaders show an ability to connect with the common people. Something Mao understood, so did Reagan.

I don't don't even know the name of your President or Leader or Chairman yet you know the name of mine. You also know the name of the VP who happens to be a woman, hate to put you on the spot as an Asian man but does the thought of a strong woman make you feel small...

Asian culture would laugh any woman out of any position of power in politics or otherwise, that much I agree with...

Response:

Uhhh, I am a neutral observer here not a Republican or a Democrat. Your blog references are "Pre-Palin" and in my view out of date now. I also think that you are really missing the political tactics of all the old and well-known groups which were listed under various names such as "Republicans for Obama" of the last couple of years.

Republicans wanted Obama to beat Hillary Clinton because they knew they would have no chance of beating her in the election. They have a very real chance of beating Obama, which is unbelievable given the socio-economic climate, he should be leading by 10 points in the polls and he isn't. That's a fact not a dream...

Dream on, well, I think I would be in a nightmare I couldn't wake up from if I wanted a DNC win in Nov...

So? McCain makes light of death, destruction and war. ("Bomb Iran, Bomb Bomb Iran.") Why judge unconscious gestures when you have actual words and positions to go by?

This election sucks. Pick the guy who's gonna take our financial freedom or the guy who's gonna kill foreign people in my name. I might not vote.
__________
Response- Fair point, I was blogging on the fact others picked it up, not so much as a position for or against any candidate. I myself didn't even notice it, until it was pointed out.

Do you really think Palin radiated confidence in her interview with Gibson? I beg to differ. She radiated, alright, but not confidence. Something more at bravado. She took every opportunity to overreact to simple questions the way I do when I'm in a bad mood and my girlfriend asks me to do the dishes. And her attempt to hide the fact that she wasn't sure what the Bush Doctrine was didn't exude confidence at all.
However, I agree that this SNL skit may have helped the McCain campaign as much as it did the Obama if not more, by keeping her in the limelight way beyond the 15 minutes she deserves. But, I have a feeling that we're coming up on a critical turning point in this election and she will usher it in. She may very well be the deciding factor in a Democratic win.

And the skit was hilarious wasn't it?
(-:
_____________

Response: The Skit was great. In an earlier post I gave the first part of her interview with a Gibson an F. The second part a B-. This post is mainly just about the SNL skit and my view of Palin at the moment, her major first impression to America was the speech at the convention, the lipstick line etc, it will take a number of media stumbles and interviews like Gibson's to take the shine off that initial first impression speech. And I also agree that she will be the pivot point in this election for either a Democrat or Republican win, I look forward to the next 7 weeks... : )

I was watching this footage with my husband and I immediately noticed that Obama couldn't 'be bothered' to place the rose on the coffin but decided to toss it. My husband's comment was "he doesn't respect life or death ... it makes no difference to him." I wonder if Obama will place wreaths at Arlington Cemetery to honor the fallen in war or will that not be important to him either.
